Copyright Laws and "Fair Use"

Copyright has been around since the founding of America and is still very alive today! It has goNe thrOugh some changes but for the most part it has stayed the same. A copyright in short is a persons right to and idea, invention, or discovery they may have made. A common problem today is the option of "Fair Use" which states that any one can sample another's work, either for criticism or educational reasons. One side says that since they own the copyright, no one can use any part of their material, but the other side says that they should be able to use parts of it so that they can learn from it. I think that Fair Use is acceptable because the person who is using the copyrighted materials isn't trying to steal the invention or infringe on any rights, but they are just wanting to see the copyrighted item and learn from it.

I ejoyed the tour we took as a clas. It was interesting to see how the internet works on campus. I liked how they have set up the campus to be helpful for us no matter where we are.

Tech tip

I learned a lot when our speaker came on Thursday. The tip that was most beneficial to me was when he taught us how to delete all our aquired history on a mac. This helped me because I found out that I had a lot of stuff backed up on my computer.

Scavenger Hunt

The scavenger hunt was fun. I learned that one of my friends is a black belt and that another's cousin plays in the NFL. I'm looking forward to learning more about everyone and computers this semester! The blogs I commented on are:

Im James Ramsey. I go by Hunter. I play football and enjoy hanging with my friends and chilling. I have recently started rock climbing, but I am completely and totally SCARED OF HEIGHTS which makes it kind of difficult. I love music, Bob Marley's my favorite along with Damien Marley, Lil Wayne. I alos like aesop rock and iron maiden. I kinda have a very broad taste in music, but I hate country even though im from Nashville, Tennessee. I'm terrible with computers in every way except getting and listening to music or playing youtube videos, but I love to mess with them even though I usually don't know what I'm doing. I am a freshman here and I play football here as well.
